Noted journalist Altaf Mahmud, also former president of Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists (BFUJ), will be remembered on his second death anniversary tomorrow.
Marking the day, different journalist organisations will arrange commemorative programmes including discussions in the capital and different other places of the country to remember and pay respect to the late journalist leader in an appropriate manner.
Besides, family members will arrange Quran-khwani and doa mahfil at his Rampura family residence here. BFUJ will arrange a reminiscence discussion on his life and works at the Jatiya Press Club here at 11 am.
BFUJ secretary general Omar Faruk requested all former and current leaders and workers of the union to attend the programme.
Mahmud started his career in journalism in 1970s. He worked as the chief reporter of a weekly journal 'Saptahik Khabar' for a long time.
Altaf Mahmud was one of those who witnessed firsthand many historic incidents including the shooting on Sheikh Hasina's motorcade at Chittagong's Laldighi Maidan on January, 1988 and the formulation of the Awami League-led 14-Party alliance.
He served different newspapers including 'Doinik khobar', 'Daily Destiny' and 'Daily Orhonitir Kagoj' with various capacities.
