Stocks bounced back on Thursday, the last day of the week, as indices of the both bourses-Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE)-witnessed a rise with active participation of investors.
The broader DSEX index of DSE closed the week with 108.57 points up at 5,597.44. The blue-chip DS30 and the Shariah DSES also followed the same trend with 50.66 points up at 2106.02 and with 17.34 points up at 1,314.65, reports BSS.The daily trade value stood at Taka 470.36 crore and 12.71 crore shares and mutual funds exchanged hands on the day. Out of the day's 335 issues, 261 closed up against 54 losing securities. The day's five major gainers were BEXIMCO Limited, Green Delta Insurance, Shasha Denim, Takaful Insurance and BD Finance.Queen South Textiles, Textile Craft, Eastern Insurance, UCBL and Republic Insurance were the top five losing securities on the day. In the port city the CSE ended the week upward with its major CASPI index closing 173.54 point up to 17,215.11.Out of the 230 issues traded on the CSE, 168 closed up against 16 losing securities when 80.75 lakh shares changed hands for Taka 65.78 crore.
