3 burnt, 4 injured in Ashulia gas blast

Three members of a family were burnt and four others injured in a blast at Ashulia area of Savar upazila in Dhaka.

The incident took place at the ground floor of a two-storey building in the Bhadail area around 6am on Sunday.

Identities of the victims could not be known immediately.

The four injured were admitted to different local hospitals and the rest to Enam Medical College Hospital.

An initial fire service investigation suggests an issue with the gas line caused the blast and started the fire. An intact gas cylinder was found in the kitchen but it is suspected that gas from a leak caused the explosion.

The walls of their flat cracked in the blast, which also damaged parts of the building. The other residents have been evacuated for their safety, said Abdul Hamid, Senior Station Manager of DEPZ fire service.
