Five people were killed and seven others injured in an attack by unidentified miscreants while attending the funeral of Naniarchar Upazila Parishad chairman Shaktiman Chakma in Rangamati on Friday.
Confirming the matter to Jago News, Md. Alamgir Kabir, Rangamati Superintendent of Police, said the injured were admitted to Khagrachari Sadar Hospital.
The deceased are Tapon Jotey Chakma alias Barma, convener of the United People’s Democratic Front (UPDF), Tanoy Chakma, central member of Juba Samity, Suzon Chakma, president of Mohalchari Juba Samity, Sajeeb Chakma and Setulal Chakma.
On Thursday, Naniarchar Upazila Chairman and leader of Jana Sanghati Samity Shaktiman Chakma was gunned down and his assistant Rupom Chakma injured by unidentified miscreants.
