Drivers, helpers of Jabal-e-Nur Paribahan on 7-day remand

A Dhaka court has placed two drivers and two helpers of Jabal-e-Noor Paribahan bus on 7-day remand in a case filed over the deaths of two college students in bus crash on Airport Road.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Kaisarul Islam passed the order on Monday.

The accused are Jabal-e-Noor Paribahan bus drivers Sohagh Ali and Md Jubayer, and helpers Md Ripon and Enayet Hossain.

On July 29, two students- Abdul Karim, 16, and Diya, 15, of Shaheed Ramiz Uddin Cantonment College were killed when a speedy bus rammed them on Airport Road of the capital city. 

Later, Diya’s father filed a case with Cantonment Police Station over the accident. 

The incident triggered mass protest among students and they have been continuing the demonstration in demand of safe roads and justice.
