Ex-RAB officer allegedly ‘picked up’

A group of plainclothes men, identifying themselves as detectives, allegedly picked up Ex-RAB officer Hasinur Rahman from his house at Mirpur DOHS in Dhaka on Wednesday.

Hasinur’s wife lodged a general diary with Pallabi Police Station in the wee hours of Thursday in this regard. But, Pallabi Police Station didn't receive the general diary.

According to Hasinur’s family members, a group of plainclothes men picked up him from the main gate of his house in Mirpur DOHS at 10pm on Wednesday while he was going to meet a friend.

Confirming the information, Pallabi Police Station Officer-in-Charge Nazrul Islam said: “The allegation will be accepted after the verification of the complaint.” 

Police visited the house of the former Rab officer after getting the news and confiscated the personal pistol of Hasinur, he added.

The former officer, who had worked as commander of the Rapid Action Battalion-5 and RAB-7, was jailed for five years for sedition and freed in 2014.
