Flight operation suspended at Shah Amanat Int’l Airport

Flight operations at Shah Amanat International Airport in Chattogram have been suspended since this noon as a Cox’s Bazar- bound aircraft of US-Bangla Airlines with 164 passengers on-board made an emergency landing at the Airport.

Confirming the news, Managing Director of Shah Amanat International Airport said that the flight made an emergency landing at Shah Amanat International Airport instead of Cox’s Bazaar Airport as the nose gear of the aircraft couldn’t be opened.

The aircraft, at its first effort, couldn’t be landed at Cox’s Bazaar Airport as there was no facility of making emergency landing, he said.

Later, the flight made a safe emergency landing (nose landing) at the Shah Amanat International Airport, he added.

Chattogram Fire Service and Civil Defence Deputy-director Zasim Uddin said that three units of fire service took position at the spot following the emergency landing.

US-Bangla Airlines Public Relation Department General manger (GM-PR) Kamrul Islam told Jago news: “Seven crews and 164 passengers including 11 children were on board in the flight. All of them are safe.”

Earlier in March this year, a plane of the Bangladeshi private US-Bangla Airlines crashed during landing in Kathmandu, Nepal, leaving at least 51 persons dead.
