Draft voter list to be published on Jan 2: EC

The Election Commission (EC) is preparing for the upcoming national parliamentary elections. In line with this, the draft voter list will be published on January 2. The commission has requested that those whose National Identity (NID) cards contain errors make urgent corrections before the publication date.

This information was shared by the EC's Public Relations Office on Sunday, December 8.

Md Shariful Alam, Director of Public Relations at the EC, said that the voter list will be published on January 2. He urged those with errors in their NIDs to visit the relevant Upazila/Thana election offices before this date for necessary corrections.

Some advisers of the interim government have hinted that elections may take place next year.

Meanwhile, in a conference organised by the Bangladesh Institute of Development Studies on Saturday, Adviser to the Ministry of Education and Planning Wahiduddin Mahmud said, "Our government is very short-term. Personally, I believe we will see a politically elected government next year. I don’t know what will happen."

In addition, the Election Commission is releasing banners with the message: "Register as a voter on your own initiative, vote on time, vote for your preferred candidate, and elect an honest and qualified candidate."
