A 13-kilometer-long tailback has formed on the Dhaka-Chattogram Highway in the Gazaria area of Munshiganj, causing significant delays for passengers as vehicles move at a crawl.
According to the Highway Police, the congestion began around 7:00 am on Monday near the Baushia area of Gazaria, following a road accident and a vehicle breakdown in the lane heading towards Cumilla. Over time, the jam spread over a 13-kilometer stretch of the highway.
Truck driver Shafik said, "I’ve been stuck in traffic since crossing the Meghna Bridge, but I’m unaware of the cause of the jam."
Bus driver Kurban Ali mentioned, "It took me about an hour to travel from Jamaldhi to Bhoberchar bus stand. I’m unsure how much longer it will take to reach my destination."
Mohammad Humayun Kabir, the In-charge of the Gazaria Bhoberchar Highway Police Outpost, stated that efforts are underway to remove the vehicles involved in the accident and breakdown. While traffic is moving slowly, authorities expect the situation to return to normal soon.
