A local leader of Jubo Dal has been hacked to death by the miscreants in Moulvibazar’s Barlekha.
Dead Noman Ahmed, 35, was the son of Lechu Mia, a resident of Ranginagar village under Sujanagar union in the upazila, and general secretary of 1 no. ward Jubo Dal under the union.
Two young men hacked Noman at Badda Bazar around 7:30pm on Saturday, January 18, and quickly escaped, leaving him seriously injured, said 1 no. ward member Abdus Shahid.
He was first rushed to the Barlekha upazila health complex and later, was referred to MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital, Sylhet where the on-duty doctors declared him dead, Shahid added.
Claiming one Marjan Ahmed and his associates killed Noman, Sujanagar union Jubo Dal convener Sabul Ahmed demanded the arrests of those involved in the incident.
Barlekha police station’s sub-inspector (investigation) Jahirul Islam said they initially learned that the Jubo Dal leader might have been murdered over a previous conflict.
