Injured protesters from the July mass uprising ended their demonstration outside the Chief Adviser’s residence, Jamuna, on Minto Road in the capital, early Monday after receiving assurances that their demands would be met.
The protesters left the premises around 2:00 am. Earlier, after breaking through police barricades shortly after midnight, they gathered in front of the Chief Adviser’s residence, demanding proper medical treatment, rehabilitation, and state recognition, among seven other demands.
Expressing frustration over their unmet demands, the injured protesters voiced their grievances. To defuse the situation, Hasnat Abdullah, convener of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, arrived at the scene and engaged in discussions with the demonstrators.
At around 1:45 am, Hasnat told journalists that he would convey the protesters' demands to the government, assuring them that the interim government—not any future administration—would address their concerns. Following this assurance, the protesters vacated the road in front of Jamuna.
Earlier, the injured had concluded a sit-in protest near Shishu Mela by 6:00 pm on Sunday before briefly returning to the hospital. Later, they marched toward the Chief Adviser’s residence at the state guesthouse Jamuna.
