2 killed in clash over land dispute in Brahmanbaria

Two people were killed and five others injured in a clash over a land dispute between two groups in Bishutara village of Sarail upazila on Tuesday morning.

The deceased have been identified as Anamat Mia (65), son of Michir Ali, and Azad Ali (50), son of Omar Ali—both residents of the village.

Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) of Sarail Circle, Tapan Sarker, said that Azad Ali and Insan Mia, who were uncle and nephew, had a longstanding dispute over land. Early Tuesday morning, Insan’s supporters attacked Azad, leaving him critically injured. He was later rescued and taken to the district hospital for treatment.

Upon hearing the news, Azad’s supporters retaliated by attacking Insan’s residence in the morning, triggering a violent clash between the two groups. During the confrontation, Anamat Mia sustained severe injuries and was also rushed to the district hospital.

Both Azad Ali and Anamat Mia succumbed to their injuries while undergoing treatment.

However, Police have been deployed to the area to maintain law and order.
