Arakan Army abducts 4 Bangladeshi fishermen from Naf river

Four Bangladeshi fishermen were abducted by Myanmar’s armed group, the Arakan Army, from the Naf River in Teknaf of Cox’s Bazar. 

The incident occurred around 11:00 am on Tuesday (February 11) in the Golarchar Mukh area near Shahparir Dwip.  

The abducted fishermen have been identified as boatmen Md Hasan, 30, Abdur Rakim, 20, Md Jaber 26, and Md Hasan, 16, all residents of Dakshinpara, Shahparir Dwip.  

Bashir Ahmed, President of Dakshin Naughat on Shahparir Dwip, confirmed the incident, saying that the four fishermen had gone fishing in the Naf River in the morning and were abducted by the Arakan Army. The matter has been reported to the local administration.  

Teknaf Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Sheikh Ehsan Uddin acknowledged the incident, saying, “I have been informed about the abduction of the four fishermen. Our law enforcement agencies are actively working to secure their safe return.”
