The National Consensus Commission will begin its meetings with political parties on Saturday afternoon.
The first meeting with the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) is scheduled from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm at the Foreign Service Academy on Bailey Road in Dhaka.
BNP’s Secretary General, Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, will lead the party’s six-member delegation, as confirmed by the BNP Media Cell.
In addition to Mirza Fakhrul, the following members will also participate: Barrister Jamir Uddin Sircar, a member of the party’s Standing Committee; Dr. Abdul Moin Khan; Nazrul Islam Khan; Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury; and Salahuddin Ahmed.
Earlier on Friday night, Foyez Ahammad, the Senior Assistant Press Secretary to the Chief Adviser, provided this information. He added that Chief Adviser Dr Yunus will deliver a speech during the meeting.
On Thursday, the interim government issued a gazette notification announcing the formation of the seven-member National Consensus Commission, led by Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus. The commission will engage with political parties on the recommendations of six reform commissions, aimed at reaching a consensus on political, constitutional, and electoral reforms.
The other members of the commission are Prof Ali Riaz, head of the Constitutional Reform Commission; Abdul Muyeed Chowdhury, head of Public Administration Reform Commission; Safar Raj Hossain, head of Police Reform Commission; Badiul Alam Majumder, head of Election Reform Commission; Justice Emdadul Haque, head of Judiciary Reform Commission; and Dr Iftekharuzzaman, head of Anti-Corruption Reform Commission.
The National Consensus Commission will complete its consensus building tasks within its six-month tenure.
The Chief Adviser's Office (CAO) is providing secretarial service to the commission.
