Final polls schedule to come from chief adviser: Rizwana

Environment and Forests Adviser Syeda Rizwana Hasan urged patience regarding the final date of the national election, saying it will be announced by the Chief Adviser.

“I’m iterating what the Chief Adviser has said: the election will take place between December and June. So, wait to hear the final date directly from him,” she remarked.

Rizwana made these statements during a press briefing at the Foreign Service Academy on Bailey Road in the capital on Tuesday, March 4.

When asked about the interim government’s stance on various political parties’ statements regarding elections and reforms, she responded, “Those are the parties’ own views. We have no intention or authority to affirm or deny them, nor do we wish to control them.”

Addressing repetitive questions from the media, she added, “You keep asking the same thing, and each response varies, leading to confusion. Let me repeat: the Chief Adviser has said the election will occur between December and June. This timeframe includes December—it’s not excluded. Wait for his final announcement.”

Rizwana clarified the government’s broader priorities: “This isn’t about choosing between elections or reforms first. We’ve previously stated that reforms, elections, and justice fall within our scope. Additionally, managing prices and maintaining law and order are always governmental responsibilities.”

She also confirmed that discussions with political parties on reforms have begun. “You’ll see more when a date is set, but the talks are ongoing,” she said.
