The Rajshahi University, RU, students have withdrawn their blockade of railway tracks near the campus considering people’s sufferings as Chittagong University’s admission test is scheduled to take place at RU on Thursday, March 6.
They withdrew the blockade around 1:00pm on Wednesday, March 5 and placed a three-point demand.
The demands are-
1. Reducing Dhaka University’s dominance and ensuring equal opportunities for all universities in various cases, including UGC and government recruitment exams.
2. Stopping dominance of DU at the Public Service Commission (PSC) and University Grant Commission (UGC) and ensuring all universities’ representation there.
3. Decentralising the government and administrative activities to different divisional cities and universities.
Earlier, a group of RU students blocked the railway around 11:00 am, disrupting the rail communication between Rajshahi and rest of the country.
