Habibullah Bahar College teacher murdered

A college teacher was found murdered in a rented house in the Puran Para area under the Uttarkhan police station in Dhaka.

Saifur Rahman Bhuiyan, 50, the acting vice-principal of Habibullah Bahar College, was discovered in a bloodied state and was rushed to Lake View Hospital early Sunday, where he later died while undergoing treatment.

Following the incident, the police initiated the process of sending his body to the morgue at Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital after conducting a post-mortem examination at a local hospital on Monday.

The police revealed that Saifur had been living alone in the house. Two days before his death, a man and a woman had visited and stayed with him. Their whereabouts are currently under investigation.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Uttarkhan Police Station, Ziaur Rahman, confirmed the incident, stating that the initial findings indicate a murder. Investigations are ongoing to identify the perpetrators and determine the motive behind the crime.

The news of the teacher's death drew family members, students, and faculty to the morgue at Suhrawardy Hospital.

Saifur's elder brother, Muzahidur Rahman Bhuiyan, stated that Saifur had been living with his wife and two sons in Shantinagar. However, he had been living alone in the rented house in Uttarkhan for the past few months. Muzahid further mentioned that he had never visited Saifur's rented house, and neither his wife, Sadia Rahman, nor his children had expressed any concerns or complaints about it.

Muzahidur also revealed that Saifur had previously mentioned that his wife owned two and a half katha of land in Uttarkhan, which had been illegally occupied. Saifur had informed the family that he had made efforts to recover the land three to four months ago.
