Shahbagh legitimised extrajudicial killings, other crimes: Hasnat

Hasnat Abdullah, the Chief Organiser (Southern Region) of the National Citizen Party (NCP), commented that Shahbagh legitimised extrajudicial killings and other crimes. In a post on his verified Facebook page early Wednesday (March 12), he made the statement.

Hasnat wrote, “Shahbagh was not built in a day. No one single-handedly established Shahbagh. It was supported by the so-called civil society, intellectuals, bureaucrats, cultural activists, foreign agents, politicians, and even sports figures.”

He continued, “Shahbagh took away the fundamental human rights of the people of this country, including their freedom of speech. It even stripped them of their right to live freely.”

“Shahbagh legitimised extrajudicial killings, enforced disappearances, murders, judicial killings, and all forms of criminal activities,” he added.

The NCP leader further stated, “It is through the direct and indirect support of those involved in establishing Shahbagh that fascism has been entrenched over the past fifteen years. It was with their support that the fascist Hasina remained in power.”

Hasnat Abdullah also said, “After the 24 uprising, we are determined to ensure justice for all the wrongdoings, crimes, disappearances, murders, and oppression committed over the past fifteen years.”

He added, “We hope that with everyone's efforts, this will be possible. Through the united efforts of all anti-fascist forces, justice will prevail in this land. We remain vigilant in preserving the spirit of the July martyrs.”

“I reiterate, we are committed to ensuring justice for all the wrongs and oppression that took place during the past regime,” Hasnat Abdullah concluded.
