10 killed in Ctg road crash

Ten people were killed and three others injured in a head-on collision involving a passenger bus and two HiAce microbuses in Lohagara, Chattogram, on Wednesday morning.

The accident occurred around 7:00 am at the Chunti Jangalia Mazar Gate area on the Chattogram-Cox’s Bazar highway. The identities of the victims have not yet been confirmed.

The injured were taken to Chattogram Medical College Hospital for treatment.

According to local sources, a Relax Paribahan bus heading towards Cox’s Bazar suddenly braked hard at a bend on the highway, causing the front of the bus to swivel. As a result, the bus blocked the road horizontally. At that moment, a Chattogram-bound microbus coming from the opposite direction collided with the bus. Shortly after, another microbus coming from the opposite direction rear-ended the first microbus.

As a result, seven people were killed at the scene, and six others were injured. The injured were rescued and sent to the hospital, where police reported that five of them were in critical condition. Three of these five later succumbed to their injuries.

Lohagara Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Arifur Rahman confirmed the incident and stated that the identities of the deceased have not yet been determined. Once the identities are known, the bodies will be handed over to the families after completing the legal procedures.

Earlier, on Eid day (Monday) at 7:25 am, two buses collided head-on at the same location, resulting in the deaths of five people.
