Purbachal plot graft: Hasina, Putul face arrest warrants

A Dhaka court has issued arrest warrants against 18 people, including former prime minister Sheikh Hasina and her daughter Saima Wazed Putul, in a case filed over irregularities in allocating plots in Purbachal New Town project.

The court of Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Md Zakir Hossain Galib passed the order on Thursday, April 10, after a petition by the Anti-Corruption Commission, ACC.

On January 12, ACC filed the case. Other accused include Sheikh Hasina's son Sajeeb Wazed Joy, sister Sheikh Rehana, her son Radwan Mujib Siddiq Bobby and daughter Ajmina Siddiqui.

Earlier on December 26, the anti-graft body began an investigation into the allegations.

According to the ACC, Hasina illegally took the allotment of six government plots measuring a total of 60 katha of Rajdhani Unnayan Kartripakkha at Purbachal New Town project for herself, Joy, Putul, Sheikh Rehana, Radwan Mujib and Ajmina Siddiqui in collusion with some higher officials of RAJUK.
