A Dhaka court has sentenced Evaly's Managing Director Md Rassel and his wife Shamima Nasrin, also chairman of the e-commerce platform, to three years in jail and fined them Tk 5,000 each in an embezzlement case.
The court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Md Misbah Ur Rahman delivered the verdict on Sunday, April 13.
The court also issued arrest warrants against them as they are on the run.
One Md Rajib filed the case against Rassel and Shamima.
According to the case statement, Rajib placed an order to Evaly.com to buy a product and paid Tk 12.37 lakh for it.
But the e-commerce company failed to deliver the product and also did not refund the money.
