ASP Jabed Iqbal suspended

Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Jabed Iqbal of RAB-2 has been temporarily suspended from government service.

The suspension order was issued on Sunday (April 13) through a notification signed by Senior Secretary Nasimul Gani on behalf of the President. The order came under the Police-1 Branch of the Public Security Division, Ministry of Home Affairs, and was made public on Tuesday (April 15).

According to the notification, ASP Jabed Iqbal—posted at Mohammadpur-based RAB-2—was arrested and sent to court on February 11 under a warrant issued in accordance with Section 3 of the International Crimes Tribunal Act, 1973.

As a result, Jabed Iqbal has been temporarily suspended, effective from February 11, under Section 39(2) of the Government Service Act, 2018 (Act No. 57 of 2018). However, he will continue to receive subsistence allowance as per government regulations.

Earlier, on March 16, the government also temporarily suspended Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Mollah Nazrul Islam—attached to the Sardah Police Academy in Rajshahi and former Commissioner of Gazipur Metropolitan Police (GMP)—along with former Sylhet Superintendent of Police (SP) Abdul Mannan. Both are currently in jail.

Prior to that, on March 11, former Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Deputy Commissioner Md Shahidullah, former Bagerhat SP Abul Hasanat Khan, and former Noakhali SP Mohammad Asaduzzaman were also suspended from service following their arrest and imprisonment. They, too, remain behind bars.
