Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus has departed from Dhaka for Doha of Qatar on a four-day official visit.
He left Shahjalal International Airport at 7:00pm Monday (April 21) aboard a Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight.
At a press briefing held at the Foreign Service Academy earlier on Monday afternoon, Chief Adviser's Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam outlined the key objectives of the visit.
Professor Yunus is scheduled to attend the Earthna Summit in Doha on April 22 and 23, an event primarily organised by the Qatari royal family.
During his stay, Yunus will meet with Qatar’s Deputy Prime Minister and may also hold talks with the Emir of Qatar, further strengthening bilateral relations between the two nations.
Accompanying Professor Yunus on this visit is Energy Adviser Muhammad Fouzul Kabir Khan, underscoring the importance of energy-related discussions. Bangladesh has a long-term LNG import agreement with Qatar, and the visit will provide an opportunity to review and enhance cooperation in this critical sector.
Additionally, there will be discussions regarding visa facilitation between the two countries, aimed at fostering greater mobility and collaboration.
The Chief Adviser’s participation in the Earthna Summit highlights Bangladesh’s growing engagement with global economic forums. The conference, organised by Qatar’s royal family, is expected to bring together leaders, policymakers, and experts to address pressing global issues.
This visit not only reinforces Bangladesh’s strategic ties with Qatar but also underscores the interim government’s commitment to addressing domestic challenges through international partnerships, particularly in energy security and diplomatic cooperation.
