Chinese Ambassador to Bangladesh Yao Wen visited mango orchards in Chapainawabganj on Monday, April 28, raising hopes for exports to China.
Accompanied by a seven-member delegation, including a Chinese importer, the ambassador arrived at 3:00pm to inspect the orchard of farmer Rafiqul Islam in Kendua village, Nachol upazila.
Ambassador Yao Wen praised the quality of Chapainawabganj’s mangoes, assuring that the district would export mangoes to China this year and announcing potential Chinese investment in mango processing.
Rafiqul Islam expressed optimism, stating, “Exporting to China will ensure fair prices for farmers, increase local demand, and boost the district’s economy.”
Nachol Upazila Agriculture Officer Saleh Akram noted, “The ambassador was impressed with our mango orchards and discussed export possibilities.”
According to the Department of Agricultural Extension, Chapainawabganj has 37,604 hectares of seasonal mango orchards and 1,792 hectares of perennial ones.
