Hefazat apologises for 'offensive' words at rally

Hefazat-e-Islam Bangladesh has tendered an apology for 'offensive' words by two speakers at a rally of the party recently, stating it does not support such objectionable words.

In a statement on Tuesday, May 6, the organisation said, "Two speakers unexpectedly used offensive words at our May 5 grand rally which we do not support. If those words hurt anyone, we are offering apology to them."

The Qawmi madrasa based organisation also urged those of secular movement, who have maliciously criticised Islamic scholars as 'militants', 'fundamentalists' and 'communal' etc., to refrain from such offensive language.
