The Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) detained 66 Indian nationals, who were pushed into Bangladesh allegedly by the Indian Border Security Force (BSF), in different areas of Khagrachhari in the early hours of Wednesday, May 7.
According to the BGB, the detainees claimed to be residents of India’s Gujarat and they said the BSF took them on border on plane and pushed them into Bangladesh through various border points.
Of the detainees, 27 were pushed in through Shantipur border and 15 through Taidang border under Gomti union in Matiranga upazila, and 24 through Rupsen Para border under Logang union in Panchari upazila.
Stating that the BGB is looking into the matter, acting deputy commissioner of Khagracchari Nazmun Ara Sultana said, "We are trying to send them back."
