The expatriate Bangladeshis sent around $161 crore (about Tk 19,642 crore) in remittances in the first 17 days of May.
The country received about $9.47 crore on average every day, and if the flow continues, the inward remittances may cross $3 billion this month.
Of the $161 crore, $96.27 crore came through private banks, while $49.33 crore came through state-owned banks, sources in the Bangladesh said on Sunday, May 18.
However, nine banks received no remittances. These are Rajshahi Krishi Unnayan Bank (RAKUB), Community Bank, Citizen Bank, ICB Islamic Bank, Padma Bank, Shimanto Bank PLC, Habib Bank, National Bank of Pakistan, and State Bank of India, according to the sources.
