Tasnim Jara, Senior Joint Member Secretary of the National Citizen Party (NCP), has said this is not a moment for blame, but for reflection. She urged political actors to rise above division and work towards national unity.
In a Facebook post on Friday morning, Jara wrote, “Last night was one of the hardest since the July Uprising. I want to share a reflection that has kept me awake. This is not a moment for blame. It is a moment for reflection.”
Expressing concern over the current political climate, Jara said, “The petty rivalries and mistrust between political actors are putting the entire democratic transition at risk. We cannot let short-term calculations jeopardize the hopes of a nation that bled for freedom.”
Jara also warned of attempts to derail progress through division and polarization. “History teaches us that those who fear change often rely on fragmentation and polarisation to bring back the old order in a new name,” she stated.
“We must not let that happen here. We must rise above factionalism. The revolution was carried by the people. And it is to them we owe our restraint, our dialogue, and our unity,” she emphasised.
She concluded with a call for national solidarity: “Let this be a turning point towards unity, not further division.”
