River ports in Khulna, Barishal, Patuakhali, Noakhali, Chattogram, and Cox’s Bazar have been advised to hoist riverine warning signal number two.
The warning for inland river ports will remain valid until 1:00pm on Thursday, according to a bulletin issued by the Bangladesh Meteorological Department.
In association with rain or thundershowers, temporary south or south-westerly squalls with wind speeds of 60–80 kph are likely to occur over the regions of Khulna, Barishal, Patuakhali, Noakhali, Chattogram, and Cox’s Bazar, the bulletin said.
Rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary south or south-westerly gusty or squally winds with speeds of 45–60 kph are likely elsewhere in the country. In those areas, river ports have been advised to hoist cautionary signal number one, it added.
