The Bangladesh Jeweler's Association (BAJUS) has suspended its programme to close all jewelry shops across the country.
BAJUS decided to halt the programme in the hope of getting justice subject to fair investigation into the arrest of its vice president Md Ripnul Hasan, a press release said on Thursday, May 29.
The association also threatened to announce new programmes subsequently if Ripnul’s name is not withdrawn from the case and justice is ensured, according to the release.
Earlier on Wednesday, May 28, BAJUS has announced to shut all jewelry shops nationwide for an indefinite period protesting against the arrest of Ripnul and seeking his unconditional release.
The central leaders of BAJUS, acting president Gulzar Ahmed and general secretary Badal Chandra Roy, expressed concern and condemned over the arrest of Ripnul in a 'false and harrassing' case.
The law enforcers apprehended BAJUS vice president Ripnul from his business entity at Tatibazar in Dhaka yesterday evening.
