The National Consensus Commission, chaired by Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus, convened its second round of discussions with political parties and alliances on Monday, June 2, 2025, at the Foreign Service Academy in the capital.
The meeting commenced at 4:50 PM, with Professor Yunus arriving at 4:46pm.
The dialogue included representatives from various political parties and two alliances, with last-minute invitations extended to Jamiat Ulema-e-Bangladesh and Islami Oikya Jote.
Key attendees included:
BNP Delegation: Standing Committee Member Salahuddin Ahmed, Adviser to the Chairperson Ismail Zabiullah, Executive Committee Member Ruhul Quddus Kajal.
Jamaat Delegation: Nayeb-e-Amir Dr Syed Abdullah Mohammad Taher, Assistant Secretaries General Rafiqul Islam Khan and Hamidur Rahman Azad.
NCP Delegation: Convener Nahid Islam, Member Secretary Akhtar Hossain, Joint Convener Sarwar Tushar.
Other Parties and Alliances:
Chowdhury Hasan Sarwardi (LDP), Zonayed Saki (Ganosamhati Andolan), Mostafizur Rahman Iran (Labor Party), Dr Ahmad Abdul Quader (Khelafat Majlis), Saiful Haque (Revolutionary Workers Party), Nurul Haque Nur (Gana Adhikar Parishad), Sajedul Haque Rubel (CPB), Bazlur Rashid Firoz (BSD), Asaduzzaman Fuad (AB Party), and Shakib Anwar (Nagorik Oikya).
National Consensus Commission Vice-Chairman Professor Ali Riaz and other commission members are also attending the talks.
The meeting aims to foster dialogue and build consensus among political stakeholders. The inclusion of additional parties at the last moment reflects efforts to ensure broader representation in the discussions.
