Congestion eases at Ctg Port, over 9,000 containers cleared in 8 days

Chattogram Port has seen a significant reduction in container congestion, with the number of containers dropping by over 9,000 in eight days, from 45,377 TEUs to 36,215 TEUs as of Wednesday, marking a record achievement. 

Despite this progress, 17 container-carrying ships with over 19,000 containers remain at the outer anchorage, while 10 ships are being loaded and unloaded at the port jetty.

According to port authorities, 7,808 TEUs of containers were handled in the last 24 hours. 

Currently, 147 ships, including those carrying containers and bulk goods, are berthed at the jetty and outer anchorage, with unloading operations ongoing for 49 ships.

Port data indicates that, in the past 24 hours:

3,358 TEUs of containers arrived from ships.

32 TEUs arrived from Dhaka Inland Container Depot (ICD).

2,414 TEUs of export containers arrived from off-docks.

615 TEUs of empty containers were received.

4,450 TEUs of containers were shipped out.

80 TEUs were sent to Dhaka ICD.

763 TEUs of import containers were dispatched to off-docks.

700 TEUs of empty containers were sent to off-docks.

1,845 TEUs of unchecked import containers were delivered directly to importers.

2,146 TEUs of container goods were unloaded within the port.
