A moving pickup van caught fire on the Dhaka-Tangail Highway in Palli Bidyut area in Chandra of Gazipur on Wednesday afternoon, June 4.
Being informed, the firefighters from Kaliakair Fire Service rushed to the spot and brought the fire under control.
Quoting locals, Salna highway police station’s officer-in-charge Shawkatul Alam, said the pickup van bound for Rangpur suddenly caught fire around 4:15pm when it reached Chandra Palli Bidyut area.
No casualty was reported in the incident as the driver and passengers managed to got down quickly, the OC added.
It is assumed that the fire might have erupted due to gas cylinder blast or technical glitch.
