Around 20 kilometers long traffic jam created on the Dhaka-Tangail-Jamuna Bridge Highway stretching from Jamuna Bridge to Rabna Bypass in Tangail on Thursday, June 5, causing immense sufferings to commuters.

There was around 20 km traffic congestion on the highway from Jamuna Bridge to Rabna Bypass till 4:00pm as thousands of homebound people were heading towards home to celebrate Eid-ul-Azha with near and dear ones.

People concerned said the movement of non-fit vehicles, reckless behaviour of some drivers, and excessive pressure of vehicles caused the gridlock.

Superintendent of Tangail district police, Mijanur Rahman, said traffic jam has been created on the highway caused by the excessive pressure of vehicles, road accidents and vehicle engine failure.
