Three deaths due to dengue were reported in Cumilla's Daudkandi in the last 24 hours, prompting the authorities concerned to declare two wards under the upazila as risky.
The deceased were Yusuf Ali, son of Mannan, Maksuda Begum, wife of Nazir Chowdhury and Shahinur Aktar, wife of Russel, residents of Donarchar village in the upazila.
Daudkandi upazila assistant commissioner (land), Redwan Islam, confirmed the matter on Tuesday, June 17.
The upazila medical officer, Dr Habibur Rahman, said 102 dengue patients have been admitted to the upazila health complex to date this month and of them, 28 have been referred to Dhaka for better treatment.
Besides, 258 patients have received treatment in private hospitals in the upazila, he said.
Daudkandi municipality's administrator and AC-land Redwan Islam said the municipality declared two wards as very risky and took programmes to contain the spread of the mosquito-borne disease.
