Some 123 irregular Bangladeshi nationals, who wanted to return home voluntarily from Tripoli and its surrounding areas of Libya, were repatriated on Thursday morning, June 19.
A chartered flight of Buraq Air carrying them landed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport around 9:00am.
They were brought back with the efforts of the Bangladesh Embassy in Libya, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the help of the International Organization for Migration (IOM) there.
The returnees said they entered Libya by sea with the intention of illegally going to Europe and after reaching the country, most of them were abducted and tortured on various occasions.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs requested everyone to be aware of this so that no one goes to Libya crossing the dangerous path.
