Ex-MP Naimur Rahman Durjoy arrested in Dhaka

Naimur Rahman Durjoy, former Member of Parliament from Manikganj-1 and former director of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), was arrested by Manikganj Detective Branch (DB) police from his residence in Dhaka’s Lalmatia area.

The arrest took place during a special operation on Wednesday night, confirmed Rezaul Karim Mallick, Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Dhaka Range.

Speaking on the matter, an official of the Manikganj DB Police said Durjoy has multiple cases filed against him. One of the notable cases involves an alleged attack during the anti-discrimination student movement. He is scheduled to be produced before the court on Thursday (July 3) following legal procedures.

Earlier, on January 21, the Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge’s Court ordered the seizure of a 2,523-square-foot apartment, land, and three vehicles owned by Durjoy in Lalmatia, Dhaka, in connection with a corruption case. The court also ordered the freezing of 12 bank accounts held in his name.
