Commerce Adviser Sk Bashir Uddin met US Trade Representative Ambassador Jamieson Greer at his office in Washington, DC, on Thursday at 11 am local time.
The two dignitaries discussed issues of mutual interest, with a particular focus on Bangladesh-US trade, commerce, and the ongoing tariff negotiations, according to a message received on Friday.
Both sides reiterated their commitment to working together for mutual benefit.
The meeting took place on the second day of the second round of a three-day series of tariff talks between Bangladesh and the United States in Washington, DC.
The discussions were comprehensive, covering almost all key aspects of the bilateral trade relationship.
Commerce Adviser Sheikh Bashir Uddin led the Bangladesh delegation in Washington, DC.
National Security Adviser Dr. Khalilur Rahman and the Chief Adviser’s Special Assistant on ICT and Telecommunications, Faiz Ahmed Tayeb, joined the talks virtually from Dhaka.
Senior officials from the Ministry of Commerce were also present at the meeting in the US capital.
From the US side, senior officials from the Office of the United States Trade Representative (USTR), as well as departments related to agriculture, labour affairs, environment and natural resources, Treasury, innovation and intellectual property, and investment agencies, took part in the discussions.
The two sides resumed their meeting at 9 pm Bangladesh time on Thursday. Talks are scheduled to continue on Friday.
