The Apostolic Nuncio of the Holy See in Bangladesh, Archbishop Kevin S Randall, has invited Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus to participate in an Interfaith Dialogue hosted by the Catholic Church in Bangladesh.
The event is scheduled to take place from September 6 to 12 this year.
Archbishop Randall extended the invitation during a courtesy meeting with Professor Yunus at the State Guest House Jamuna on Tuesday.
During the meeting, he outlined the goals of the programme, which aims to reach a broad audience through a blend of academic discussion and practical engagement.
He emphasised that the dialogue seeks to “promote a culture of tolerance, harmony, and friendship” among different religious communities.
In addition, Archbishop Randall invited the Chief Adviser to attend a separate event organised by the Fratelli Tutti Foundation in Rome later in September. The foundation was established by Pope Francis to advance the values expressed in his encyclical Fratelli Tutti (On Fraternity and Social Friendship).
Professor Yunus expressed his gratitude for the invitation, calling the interfaith event “an important initiative” and wishing it “success.”
He also conveyed his warm greetings and best wishes to the newly elected Pope Leo XIV.
The idea for the interfaith gathering was first mentioned earlier this year in April, when Cardinal George Jacob Koovakad, Prefect of the Vatican’s Dicastery for Interreligious Dialogue, met with Professor Yunus during a visit to Rome.
