Students of Milestone School and College in Uttara, Dhaka, on Tuesday called for a peaceful protest at the college roundabout to express their outrage over the recent fatal plane crash.
From early morning, relatives of the deceased, students, and onlookers gathered in front of the institution. At 9:00 am, the students announced their protest programme, presenting six demands, including the disclosure of the names and identities of those who died in the incident.
The organisers stated that the protest would be entirely peaceful and democratic, yet firm in its stand against injustice. Under the slogan "No fear, we demand justice," the students raised the following six demands:
1. The exact names and identities of the deceased must be made public.
2. A complete and accurate list of the injured must be disclosed.
3. A public and unconditional apology must be issued for the alleged assault on teachers at the accident site.
4. The Air Force must compensate the families of each deceased student.
5. Old and risky aircraft must be retired, and new, safer planes introduced.
6. The Air Force’s training system and designated training areas must be reorganised to ensure safety and humanity.
