Govt considers each of six demands of Milestone students ‘reasonable’

The government has deemed all six demands from students affected by the plane crash at Milestone School and College in the capital as reasonable, according to a statement issued on Tuesday, July 22.

Abul Kalam Azad Majumder, Deputy Press Secretary to the Chief Adviser, shared the government's stance.

The statement detailed a meeting held on Tuesday afternoon at the Milestone School and College campus in Uttara, where Education Adviser CR Abrar, Law Adviser Asif Nazrul, and Chief Adviser’s Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam engaged with representatives of the protesting students.

Following the discussion, Law Adviser Asif Nazrul informed the press, "A data centre has been set up at Milestone School to maintain records of the deceased, injured, and missing. This information is being continuously updated. The government is also arranging compensation, rehabilitation, and trauma support for the families of those affected."

Addressing allegations of misconduct, Nazrul expressed regret over reports of some army personnel using excessive force while managing crowds.

He assured that the army authorities would be notified to take appropriate disciplinary action.

Additionally, Nazrul confirmed that the Air Force would receive instructions to avoid flying training aircraft over populated areas to prevent future incidents.

Education Adviser CR Abrar addressed concerns about academic disruptions, stating that the schedule for the HSC examination, originally set for July 24, would be rescheduled, with a new date to be announced soon.
