Bangladesh sets export earnings target at $63.5b

The government has set a target of $63.5 billion in export earnings for the current fiscal year 2025-26, a significant increase from the previous year’s target.

In the recently concluded fiscal year 2024-25, the export target was set at $57.5 billion.

The new target reflects a rise of $6 billion, underscoring the government’s ambition to boost foreign exchange earnings and strengthen the national economy.

The announcement was made by Commerce Secretary Mahbubur Rahman during a press conference held at the ministry on Tuesday, August 12, in the presence of Commerce Adviser Sk Bashir Uddin.

With the global economic landscape still recovering from recent shocks, the government aims to achieve the target through enhanced support for key export sectors, including ready-made garments, textiles, leather, jute, and pharmaceuticals, alongside efforts to diversify markets and improve product competitiveness.
