MPO-registered teachers begins rally demanding nationalisation

A mass rally of MPO-registered teachers demanding the nationalisation of their educational institutions has begun. Despite drizzling rain, several thousand teachers from 64 districts participated in the event.

The rally started around 10:30 am on Wednesday (August 13) in front of the National Press Club under the banner of the ‘MPO-registered Education Nationalization Alliance.’ Due to the rally, traffic from Paltan towards the High Court and Shahbagh has been blocked, causing inconvenience for passengers and drivers.

According to the announced programme, the rally will continue until 2 pm, after which the teachers are scheduled to march towards the Secretariat.

Leaders of the alliance stated that to ensure the success of the mass rally, eight teachers from each division have been appointed as coordinators. These divisional coordinators have, in turn, appointed coordinators at district and upazila levels. To facilitate the smooth arrival and return of the participants, buses have been reserved in advance, with multiple buses arranged from some upazilas.

They also mentioned that 300 volunteers are maintaining security and discipline during the rally.

Leaders from various political parties, including BNP, Jamaat, and leftist groups, have expressed solidarity and delivered speeches at the event.
