A seminar titled “Safe Milk: Coordinated Efforts of Farmers and Stakeholders” was held in Chatmohar, Pabna, on Thursday, highlighting the need for joint action by dairy farmers, local authorities, the Department of Livestock, milk collection agencies, and other key players to ensure the production and supply of safe, high-quality milk.
Organised by PRAN Dairy, the country’s leading dairy product manufacturer, the event brought together over a hundred dairy farmers, experts, and representatives from relevant sectors to raise awareness about maintaining safety and hygiene throughout the milk production process and to promote stronger collaboration among all stakeholders.
Speakers stressed that milk is a vital source of nutrition and that consumer access to safe milk depends on a clear understanding and implementation of best practices across the entire supply chain. They emphasised that awareness-building and proper management from the very beginning of production are essential.
Key measures highlighted included maintaining hygienic farm conditions, conducting regular animal health checks, ensuring timely and sanitary milk collection, proper cold-chain storage, and rigorous quality testing at collection centres.
Maksudur Rahman, Chief Operating Officer of PRAN Dairy, said: “PRAN Dairy has always encouraged farmers to produce safe, high-quality milk. Through our Dairy Hub initiative, we provide regular training and ongoing support to farmers. To ensure only safe milk reaches consumers, we carry out quality testing at four critical stages – from the collection point through to final packaging. Consumers can therefore have full confidence in the safety and quality of PRAN Dairy products.”
Other participants included Romana Akter Romi, Livestock Officer at Bhangura Upazila; Monjurul Islam, Officer-in-Charge of Chatmohar Police Station; Mahmud Hasan Roni, Assistant Director of the Directorate of National Consumer Rights Protection, Pabna; Dr Humaiyun Kabir, Resident Medical Officer at Chatmohar Upazila Health Complex; Monirul Islam, Assistant Livestock Officer; Aslam Hossain, Sanitary Inspector of Chatmohar; and Nurul Islam, Sanitary Inspector of Bhangura. The event was also attended by local dignitaries and a large number of dairy farmers.
