A case has been filed against nine individuals, including Sifat Ali, the husband of Fahmida Tahsin Keya, following her mysterious death in Shewrapara, Mirpur.
Keya’s mother, Nazma Begum, filed a murder case with the Mirpur Model Police Station, naming Sifat Ali as the prime accused.
Confirming the matter to Jago News on Friday (August 15), Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Mirpur Model Police Station, Sajjad Roman, said the case has been registered as a murder case. A total of nine people, including Keya's husband and their driver, have been accused.
Regarding arrests, OC Sajjad said, “A drive is underway to arrest the accused.”
Family members of the deceased allege that Keya was strangled to death over a family dispute. After the incident, Sifat allegedly called her family to inform them and then fled.
Keya’s aunt, Syeda Fatema Jahan Koli, stated that around 2:00 am on Thursday, Sifat called Keya’s mother, Nazma Begum, saying that Keya was critically ill and urged them to come to their house. When asked what had happened, Sifat eventually admitted, “Keya is no longer alive.”
Nazma Begum and her husband rushed to the residence, where they found Sifat taking Keya to BRB Hospital in Panthapath. Upon arrival, doctors declared her dead. Sifat then reportedly disappeared from the hospital.
Later, Nazma Begum and her husband returned to the house and found it locked, with Sifat having fled the scene.
