The government has temporarily suspended 18 police officers, including former Dhaka Metropolitan Detective Branch (DB) chief Mohammad Harun-ur-Rashid.
The Public Security Division of the Ministry of Home Affairs issued a notification on Monday (18 August), signed by Deputy Secretary Nasimul Ghani following the President’s order.
The suspended officers include three DIGs, six Additional DIGs, four Police Superintendents, four Additional Police Superintendents, and one Assistant Police Superintendent.
The notification states that the 18 officers have been suspended under Rule 12(1) of the Government Servants (Discipline and Appeal) Rules, 2018, as they are accused of offenses punishable by dismissal under Rule 3(g) of the same rules.
During their suspension, the officers will continue to receive their allowances. The order has been issued in the public interest.
