5 more dengue deaths, 311 fresh cases recorded in 24 hrs

Five more deaths were reported from dengue in the last 24 hours (from Wednesday 8:00am to Thursday 8:00am), taking the total number of fatalities from the mosquito-borne disease to 110 this year.

Of the new deaths, three were reported in Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC), and two in Rajshahi (outside the city corporation).

During the period, 311 more patients were hospitalised with viral fever, raising the total cases to 27,782 to date this year, the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) said in a statement today (August 21).

Of the new cases, 82 were reported in Barishal division (outside the city corporation), 37 in Chattogram division (outside the city corporation), 42 in Dhaka division (outside the city corporation), 51 in Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC), 61 in Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC), and 15 in Khulna division (outside the city corporation).

Besides, two were reported in Mymensingh division (outside the city corporation), and 21 in Rajshahi division (outside the city corporation).
