Rumor Scanner, Jago News partner to strengthen fact-checking

In a major step toward strengthening resilience against disinformation in Bangladesh, Rumor Scanner, a leading fact-checking organisation, partnered with Jagonews24.com has hosted a specialised online training session on August 19, 2025.

The event titled "Fact First with RSB: Tools, Mistakes & Media," successfully equipped 58 journalists with essential skills to combat the spread of misinformation and disinformation.

The two-hour virtual training session was conducted via Google Meet, reaching a diverse group of media professionals from Jagonews24.com, including reporters, editors, and members of the news desk, multimedia, and social media teams.

The session was led by Rumor Scanner's Senior Fact-Checker, Tanvir Mahatab Abir, with technical support from Head Researcher Sayeem Hasan. The expert-led module provided a comprehensive overview of how to detect false information, utilise advanced fact-checking tools, and avoid common journalistic errors.

The training was coordinated by Mahbub Alam Rony, News Editor of Jagonews24.com, and hosted by Md Shahinur Islam, Program Officer at Rumor Scanner.

This initiative was implemented as part of the project titled Strengthening Resilience Against

Disinformation. The collaboration, which also saw the involvement of the leadership, was instrumental in delivering a highly relevant and impactful learning experience for all attendees.

The session concluded with a Q&A segment and a vote of thanks from both organisations.
