The officer-in-charge of Mohammad police station, Ali Iftekhar Hasan, has been transferred to the Detective Branch (DB) of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) following controversy surrounding him.
Besides, Shah Ali police station's OC Quazi Rafique Ahmed has been transferred to the Mohammadpur police station and DMP's transport wing inspector Mohammad Golam Azam transferred to the Shah Ali police station.
They were transferred by an office order signed by the commissioner of DMP, Md Sajjat Ali, on Sunday, August 24.
Earlier, locals formed human chain programmes in front of the Mohammadpur police station on several occasions raising various allegations, including concealing a Tk 10 lakh drug case, against the OC, Iftekhar.
Later, a human chain was formed in Mohammadpur Town Hall area on behalf of him by drug dealers of Geneva Camp and teen gang members of Mohammadpur against the human chain by locals, sparking backlash among locals and in the social media platforms.
Apart from this, he faced huge criticism over a snatching incident.
