A female teacher at the Viqarunnisa Noon School and College in Dhaka has been suspended for allegedly forcing some students out of the classroom for wearing hijab.
Fazilatun Nahar, an assistant teacher at Bashundhara Prabhati branch, has been suspended following the allegation that she forced 22 students to leave the classroom of Class VI due to wearing hijab, according to a notice signed by acting principal of Viqarunnisa Noon School and College prof Majeda Begum on Tuesday afternoon, August 26.
The teacher has also been served a show-cause notice asking her to explain within the next seven days why she should not be expelled permanently from job, the notice said.
Victims alleged that although they attended all the classes with hijab and no teacher made any objection on wearing hijab, English teacher Fazilatun Nahar kicked them out of the classroom and also misbehaved with them on August 24.
Asked about the allegation, the teacher had said she forced the students to leave the classroom as they violated dress code.
However, she could not be reached over the phone today for comments on her suspension.
